Houlton, Maine — The Temple Theatre is proud to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of an Amex Shop Small Grant through a partnership between American Express and Main Street America.

The grant program supports small businesses and community-focused organizations across the country by providing funding to help strengthen local economies, encourage innovation, and invest in long-term growth.

“We are incredibly grateful and excited to receive this support through the Amex Shop Small Grants Program,” said Temple Theatre Manager Jason Howe. “This grant is more than just funding — it’s an investment in our future and in our ability to continue serving the community in meaningful ways.”

Funding from the grant will help the Temple Theatre complete several ongoing improvement projects throughout the historic downtown venue, including finishing the refresh of the building’s entryway, installing new poster cases, adding a new ceiling beneath the concession area, installing new projection screens, and creating a dedicated stage area for live performances.

“These improvements will help us better serve our customers while continuing to evolve as a community gathering space for movies, concerts, live entertainment, and special events,” Howe added.

The Temple Theatre is especially honored to be among more than 500 small businesses and organizations nationwide selected to receive support through the initiative. Programs like the Amex Shop Small Grants Program continue to demonstrate the important role small businesses and historic downtown organizations play in strengthening communities across America.
