Director and Star of New Movie “Lost On A Mountain In Maine” Help Create a Special experience for schools in Northern Maine.
Houlton, Maine – The Temple Theatre in Houlton is thrilled to announce the November 1, 2024, showing of the highly anticipated movie Lost On A Mountain In Maine, based on the classic book that has been part of Maine school curriculums for decades. Directed by Andrew Kightlinger and produced by Sylvester Stallone, the movie adaptation of this powerful story of survival and resilience will have a special premiere at the Temple Theatre on its national release date.
In collaboration with 13 school districts from Millinocket to Fort Fairfield, the Temple Theatre has organized a series of screenings throughout November, providing students the opportunity to witness this inspirational story on the big screen. Schoolchildren from across the region, who have read the book for years, will now have the chance to experience its film adaptation as part of an enriching educational opportunity.
Jason Howe, the manager of the Temple Theatre, recognized the significant educational value the movie holds for students and teachers. “This film brings to life the lessons of perseverance, resourcefulness, and courage that the book has taught for generations,” said Howe. “We wanted to give schools the chance to engage with the story in a new, exciting way, and we are grateful for the support from both the director and the lead actor.”
Luke David Blumm, who plays Don Fendler, and director Andrew Kightlinger have created special video messages for the Temple Theatre screenings. These personalized messages will be shown before each viewing, helping students connect the lessons of the book to the film adaptation. In his message, Blumm encourages students to reflect on the challenges Fendler faced during his harrowing journey, and how they might respond to similar circumstances in their own lives.
“I play the role of Don Fendler in Lost on a Mountain in Maine,” Blumm says in his recorded video message. “It’s such a privilege to tell such an incredible and true story like Don’s, and I’m glad that you’re all here to watch it too.”
The movie not only highlights the survival of young Don Fendler in the wilderness of Maine but also offers a unique connection to the local landscape, including Mount Katahdin, one of Northern Maine’s most iconic landmarks.
The Temple Theatre invites the community and media to join in celebrating this exciting educational event. The showing of Lost On A Mountain In Maine is an exceptional opportunity to bring both entertainment and educational enrichment to students across the region.
